my three favourite things this week

It's that time of the week again where I tell you my three most favourite things I've been loving this week so here goes.

The first thing is a song that I just can't get enough off and that's Little Mix new single Black Magic. I absolutely love this song it's so catchy, and just a fun, feel good song. I'm not a massive fan of Little Mix but some of their songs I really like. It kind of reminds me of old school pop like songs from the early naughties which is just an added bonus because the naughties was the decade I grew up in and It just takes me back to those times.

The second thing I've been loving is a TV series and that Pretty Little Liars. I know I am so far behind on this programme because I'm only on series 3 but I just can't get enough of it. I remember seeing it on MTV when it first came out but I never really took much notice of it. Then my cousin who has been watching since the very beginning convinced me to watch it and now I just can't get enough of it. I've never really found a TV series that I really like and I feel like PLL is the perfect series for me. If you've never heard of it I won't explain what it's about because I'll be here all day but watch it and see what you think.

The last thing I've been really liking is my new white heeled sandals from Newlook. There so comfy and look great in the summer with a cute summer dress. The feel is just the right size that you can wear them and walk around in them all day without your feet hurting.

The 90's

Yesterday afternoon I watched a programme that inspired me to write this post, and that was "the 90's the decade that changed the world". This was a programme that talked about events that occurred during this decade in fashion, music, TV, sport and politics. They spoke to the people that made the decade what it was such as; Oasis, Blur, kate Moss, David and Victoria Beckham and Shaun Ryder.

I'm not sure why it made me want to write about the nineties because I was only born in 1995, right in the middle so I don't remember a great deal about what happened because I was such a young age. But I was obsessed with the show and have now watched it twice over.

A lot of things happened during those ten years such as; the rise in britpop, the premier league and model of the moment Kate Moss graced her way down the fashion runway. If your not to familiar with the ninties britpop was the rivalry between the two bands, Oasis and Blur and if you don't know who Kate Moss is, she is like the nineties version of Cara Delevigne.

I think is has something to do with the fact that a lot of what was going on n the nineties has come back in terms of fashion and music (which I am absolutely loving). The high neck tops, jelly sandals and so much more.

Out of all the decades I think the nineties is my favourite just because it was the decade I was born in and the fact I could say I was around during some of the time even if I was only little a little girl.
So I thought I would pile together a few images that made the nineties one of the greatest decades.

Beach bag essentials

So in England summer is approaching. The days are warmer and the nights are lighter. This could only mean that the holiday season is getting closer and it just a weeks time I will be on my way to the airport, to jet off to the sunny island of Tenerife and I literally cannot wait. That is why I have decided to wrote a beach bag essentials.

To start with lets begin by talking about my beach bag. This is the Ralf Lauren beach bag in number 2. This was given to me for my birthday by my auntie and uncle and I just love it so much. It's a really good size and easy to carry on your shoulder. I love the colour scheme and it just looks so sophisticated when carrying it along the beach and I may even use it as a carry on at the airport.

1.A book or magazine. There's nothing better than sunbathing on the beach with a good book or a magazine. The beach is such a calm place and is the perfect setting for a good read. The book I've chosen is "the love shake" by Jane Costello. My friend got me this for my birthday and I cannot wait to start reading. A magazine I've chosen is one my favourites and that is Glamour. They have everything from; fashion, beauty, lifestyle and celebrities.

2. Sunglasses. These are probably the most important necessity when going to the beach. I am taking the brown, cat eye ones from Topshop which are my favourite. They go with everything and look great on a warm, sunny day.

3.This is wear the granny in me comes out because the next item is a packet of tissues. There's nothing worse when your in a situation and you can't get to a tissue.

4.The next item is hand sanitizer gel.

5.Phone and ear phones so you can listen to your summer tunes.

6. A coin purse with some cash.

7.Hair comb

8. Compact mirror

9.Beach towel

10.Sun cream.

Topshop cream blush in afternoon tea

Since I've been wearing make up, I've never worn a cream blush. I don't know why but what I do know is that I really like them now. I've wanted to try for a while and wanted to make sure that when I do it is going to be one I like. I did some research and heard a lot of good things about Topshop make up. I've used some of their nail varnishes but nothing else. When out in town with my friend we ventured into Topshop (typical), and make my way to the make up counter where I came drawn to their blushes. More specifically their cream blushes. Then out of the corner of my eye I noticed this beautiful shade called 'afternoon tea'. Not only did I love the name but the product itself looked most interesting.

At £7 I couldn't say no so I brought one and used it the very next day. Having watched other beauty bloggers in the past, they always say when using a cream blush to use your fingers as it goes on to the skin so nicely and they were so right. I put a considerable amount on my finger and went on to blend into the cheeks on my face. As soon as I put it on the texture was so creamy and I loved how natural it looks on the skin. It looks scary at first but it's so easy to apply and in my opinion looks nicer than a powder blush.

Aside from the product, I absolutely love the packaging and not just for this blush but all of Topshop's products. The white with black spots looks so pretty and girley.

my three favourite things this week

For this blog post, I've decided to start a regularly feature on my blog showing my three favourite things that I've been loving in that particular week. This could be either beauty, fashion or skin care.

I've decided to start a regular feature as it gets me writing a lot more and I love writing and sharing all the things that I've been really liking.

So lets get started...

1. YSL Black Opuim perfume.

2. Rimmel oh my gloss in smog

3.Topshop cat eye sunglasses

5 seconds of summer concert review

On Friday 5th of June, I went to see a band who I've been wanting to see live for ages. Then when I woke up christmas morning and was told I was going to see them, I couldn't have been more excited. Just under six months has based and they day to finally see 5 seconds of  summer had arrived.

I had actually seen them live before when they supported One Direction two years ago. But back then I didn't have a clue who they were, they had no singles out and I honestly didn't know anything about them or their music. So while they were playing, I didn't know any of the songs apart from a cover they did of Katy Perry's a teenage dream which in fact was really good.

Then about a year later or so later their first single was realised titled 'she looks so perfect'. And from them on, I feel in love with the band.  I researched about each member, where their from and started to really like not only as people but their music more importantly. When they realised their début album, I could not stop listing to them. It was the only album I listened to for a long time.

Moving on to Friday, I went to see 5 seconds of summer in Birmingham. A  stadium I hadn't been to in 15 years when I went to see s club 7. So when I arrived at the arena I couldn't believe how huge it was. The worst thing I find about going to a concert is waiting for them start, cause all that adrenalin is running through you while all you can do is sit there waiting. Then after what felt like ages, the lights went dark, the music went loud and Ashton, Luke, Callum and Michael all came running on to the stage starting with 'end up here'. At that moment I was shouting and jumping up and down like no one was watching. Each time a song came on i was dancing and just generally having a good time. There stage presence was very professional as if they had done this all their lives. The way they play their instruments was extraordinary and their vocals sounded like they do in the CD.

The overall concert was just amazing, they did everything I was expected and more. When you love a good band and all their songs, the concert cannot be a bad one. Even if your not into their style of music, the experience of seeing a band who have so much more to give and have a lot more to show is defiantly worth seeing. The members are only my age and a year younger so for  what they do at that age is amazing. I'm excited to see what they can do in a few years time.

5 seconds of summer get ready with me

So last night I went to see 5 seconds of summer in Birmingham as part of my christmas present and it was AMAZING. There is going to be another post on a review of the concert but a little spoiler for you it's all good things. In the mean time I  thought I would do a get ready with me post to show you what I wore, the make up I used and what i did with me my hair.

To start with I went into the shower and used my new body wash from treclemoon in the sent my coconut island. This smells so so nice. It's really soft on the skin and just an all around nice body wash. The brand also have a variety of different sents.

The next step was then skin care. I started by washing my face using the Neutrogena pink grapefruit daily facial wash. This is a really nice face wash that really cleans your skin, getting rid of all the dirt and giving you that refreshed feeling. The next part of the skin care is cleansing, toning and moisturising. I used the Bodushop aloe calming cleanser, the simple smoothing facial tonner, the boots essentials cucumber eye gel and the Bodyshop aloe day cream.

.
Moving away from the face and moving onto the body, I've been using this set from the Bodyshop which was given to me as a present for my birthday last year. This is there Hemp rang. This includes the body butter, the foot protector, lip conditioner and the hand cream.

I had to be really careful about what I wore, because at a concert it gets really hot and sweat from all the jumping around and dancing, but then leaving the arena i knew it was going to be a bit colder. So I chose my new look jeggings and my cream crop top from topshop with a cardigan from H&M.

With my hair I decided to straighten it using my GHD's.

Last but not least make up.

  • Maybeline baby skin instant pore eraser
  • Loreal true match foundation
  • Rimmel wake me up concealer
  • Rimmel stay matt powder
  • Rimmel sun shimmer bronzing compact
  • Topshop cream blush in afternoon tea
  • Max Factor excess shimmer in cooper
  • Soap and glory super cat eyeliner pen
  • Maybelline last sensational
  • Rimmel oh my gloss in smog

N0.7 Beautiful skin hot cloth cleanser

From my previous post about the Liz Earl hot cloth cleanser, I decided to try something a little bit more budget friendly. The Liz Earl cleanser on it's own is £15, which in most people's cases (including mine) is just a bit much for a product that removes the make up of my face. That's not to say you shouldn't invest in your skin care because it's so important to look after skin. It's the only skin your going to get so look after it as much as you can while you can. Which is why last week I headed to Boots in search for a budget friendly make up remover that gives the same results as a Liz Earl product.

That's when I stumbled upon this product by N0.7, the beautiful hot cloth cleanser. I was really intrigued by this product and was dying to try it at the end of the day. And even better is was under £10 at £9.50. Which is pretty good for a skin care item that is going to last you quite a long time. The thing that made it even better was the fact that I had enough points on my Boots card to pay for it, saving me nearly £10.

It finally came to the end of the day and I was dying to remove the make up of my face that had been there all day. I filled the sinks with warm water, put a reasonable amount on to my hand and slowly began to rub the product onto my face. The texture of the product is so creamy and milky in a way. It feels so smoothing and soft on the skin, I almost didn't want to remove it. It removed my make up so quickly and left my skin feeling like it does after using the Liz Earl cleanser. It even got my eye make up off better that the Liz Earl product. I then used the cloth that comes with the product and removed the solution from my face.

I was so impressed with the result of this product even after the first use. It made my skin not just look clean but it felt clean and refreshed as if someone had just given me new skin. I then carried on with the rest of skin care routine using; a cleaner, toner and moisturiser.

When I eventually run out I will most defiantly be repurchasing.

The Silent Sister by Diane Chamberlain

For my birthday my friend Abi brought me a book called The Silent Sister by Diane Chamberlain. I've never heard of the author before but from reading the blurb it looked most interesting.

You may or may not know but I am a complete book worm. I could sit for hours and hours reading a book and I just get completely lost when a story grips me.

I started reading the night of my birthday which was nearly two weeks ago and finished on Wednesday, so it took me a week to read it which is pretty good for me.

The story itself is about is about a girl called Riley who's life is turned upside down are she discovers    secretes and lies within her family. After the tragic deaf of her farther, she finds answers to questions that needed to be answered a long time ago about what really happened to her older sister Lisa.

After the first few chapters I could not put the book down. There are so many twist and turns that you don't expect. If your not really into reading or get bored easily by books, then read this book is defiantly worth a read.

If you want to know a bit more about the book, ill write the blurb of the book below.

"Riley Macpherson is returning to her childhood home in North Carolina: a place that holds cherished memories. While clearing out the house she finds a box of old newspaper articles- a shocking family secrete begins to unravel.

Riley has spent her whole life believing that her older sister Lisa died tragically as a teenager. But now she's starting to uncover the truth. Her life has been built on a foundation of lies, told by everyone she loved.

Lisa is alive. Alive and living under a new identity. But why exactly was she on the run all those years ago, and what secretes are being kept now?

As Riley tries to separate reality from fiction, her discoveries call into question everything she thought she knew about her family".
