The month of awards
At the start of the year I started a monthly serious where I write a post rounding off what the last month had in stall for me. February has been quite a quiet thew weeks where not a great deal has happened. I always find that February is a funny time of the year as most of the world is still in Winter but spring is only around the corner, meaning that the shops have some strange clothing items that are not quite suitable to wear yet. I did however finally book my holiday for the Summer which will take place in June. I am extremely excited for it as it will give me plenty of content to write on this blog.
Enough about my holiday, lets get on with the post. Due to February being a bit boring I thought this would be a good opportunity to write about my thoughts on this years Brit awards. This is a prestigious awards ceremony which celebrates the best of British music. There were so many great moments including the tribute to the victims of the terrorist attach at the Ariana Grande concert where Manchester born Liam Gallagher sung a song in their honour, Elton John presented Ed Sheeran with the Global Success award and Stormzy made a political statement during his performance which expressed his views on the Grendfall tower disaster.
My favourite part of the show is seeing what everyone is wearing. It gives the music artist and celebrity guest a chance to go really wild with their outfit choices which they certainly did not disappoint. Here are a few of my favourites. The first outfit I must mention is Dua Lipa. She went away with two awards and stunned us with this amazing dress on the red carpet. It was feathers all round which she looked gorgeous in.
Ellie Goulding went all 80's in a Stella Mcartney number. The red little dress contained giant shoulder pads which suited her lovely. Holly Willoughby looked amazing in all white and Cheryl with Liam on her arm looked amazing in a little black dress. Simple but stylish and always a winner.
The world of Feminism in the 21st century
This word and it's meaning has been going round and round my head and not in the good way you would expect. To me being a feminist means to believe in equal rights for both men and women. That is where the original meaning came from. As a disclaimer people are very much entitled to their own opinions so here is me expressing mine.
Every time I turn on the TV or the radio this word is being used either in a debate or to describe a certain act being portrayed in the media. Some people or organisations are using the term feminism as an excuse to get rid of a particular past time because they feel like it's outdated or it's degrading the women involved. Here I am referring to the recent departure of Grid Girls used in Formula One and the women who also work for darts events. They have or could lose their jobs because someone who more than likely has never been to these events or spoken to the women who work for these sports, feel they should not use their looks or body to advertise brands for sponsor and walk around the field.
Having heard on a popular UK daytime television the women's opinions and thoughts who work for them I feel it is a shame for those as not only have they or may lose their jobs, their being denied what they love to do. They explained during the interview that not once have they felt objectified or abused in the work place. They even mentioned that the people they work with are like a family and the opportunity has allowed them to get their foot in the door to further their career.
If for example they were being held against their will or made to do these things, I would completely understand the decision to take away these job titles and I am sure that if someone who is a grid girl has experienced some awful things during their time at work they would be dealt with. I also do not see the difference in a grip girl to a butler in the buff (played by a man). They both use their bodies to earn money but no one mentions the job as objectifying men.
Although it feels like I've gone on a rant, I just feel like I wanted to express what I thought about what is being written in newspapers or said on the telly. It is also the anniversary of 100 years since women won the right to vote. We really need to go back to this and just remember why what being a feminist is all about and we should be bringing each other up and encouraging us to do great things, not bring each down or feel like your treading on egg shells scared you may offend someone or say something someone may not agree with. We are all very much entitled to our own opinions and feel it is equally important to listen to others rather than just your own.
What's in my bag!
If you've been reading my blog for a while now, you will now how much I love hand bags. For a while I've been looking for the perfect everyday, work, black tote bag. Something I can place all my junk in can carry with me I a regular basis.
I thought I had hit the nail on the head in what I was searching for but the price tag said otherwise. It was a Balenciaga, black tote bag with large handles which would look delightful on my arm. I decided that I couldn't justify spending that much money so went on a hunt for a cheaper alternative.
It didn't take me too long to find what I was looking for. It was from a brand called Pieces and it was only £19.
I carry pretty much what most girls in their early twenties hold. There is my purse, house keys, phone, work landline, diary, earphones, pen, hair comb, perfume and a bag of essentials.
In this little Clarins bag I carry Bonjela, hand cream, lip balms, lip oils, compact mirror and hand gel.
I love being nosy and seeing what others also carry in their bags. There is something so interesting about the different random items people hold. That was the reason for writing this post and these are the kind of post and videos I love to watch and read. Unfortunately I couldn't find the bag on the Asos website anymore therefore I think it may have sold out. These kind of bags are always around on the High Street therefore it is fairly easy to locate one.
I hope you enjoyed this read and I will see you on my next post.
