Best of the Brits

Without a doubt the Brit awards is my favourite award show to watch on the TV. Every year I wake up with excitement knowing that the best show on TV is about to go live. It's full of the best music artist in Britain with an added extra of controversy and drunken celebrities.
In case you don't know the Brit awards is an awards ceremony that takes place every year celebrating the best of British music and live gigs. They started back in 1977 and have been going on ever since. The Brit awards are best known for it's anything can happen moments with the mixture of rock star band members and huge amounts of alcohol, making it one of the most watched ceremony's in the UK.

Yesterday was no different as the o2 arena pulled out it's red carpet to hand out the awards the stars have made an appearance for. To celebrate the best ceremony in the world I thought it would be a good idea to count down the best moments from the Brit awards 2016.

1- James Bay and Justin Bieber! These two could not be anymore different if they tried and yet with the Brit awards anything can happen. The Canadian born pop star teamed up with British, singer, songwriter James Bay to pull of one of my favourite performances from the night. The two sat on stage in front of a camp fire with James playing the guitar to Love Yourself, while Justin sang the lyrics. Justin then mashed the song by breaking out to sing sorry with a ring of fire around him.

2-One half of 1D. Ever since coming third on the X Factor, One Direction have always made an effort to attended the Brits as their nominated every year. But this year only two of the four members showed up which was Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne. Despite being on their hiatus the band took home best video making it their sixth Brit award.

3- Adele bringing girl power! It was pretty obvious that Adele was going to do well that nigh winning four awards but it was her speech during one of her acceptations that got us all talking. She took the opportunity to publically announce she was supporting American singer Kesha.

4-David Bowie tribute. Earlier in the year music and fashion icon David Bowie sadly passed away due to cancer. Therefore tributes was made by Annie Lennox and Gary Colman as they both produced a heart whelming speech to show their love and sadness for the great lost. This was followed by a beautiful performance from Lorde who sang is hit life on mars.

5- Little Mix put on a show. Another act produced from the X Factor that put on a show we will always remember. The girls put on an amazing performance that was full of energy and amazing dancing. By far one of the best performances from the night.

These five moments were by far the best from the night, below is a list of all the winners.

Fashion changes

Throughout my life the clothes I wear and my personal style has changed so much you wouldn't think it would be possible to have such different taste in clothing. When I was a baby my mum and dad dressed me (obviously) and they couldn't have dressed me any different. My mum would dress me in cute, pretty, pink clothing items that would make any person go awww. Then my dad on the other hand at the age of four dressed me in double denim, an Arsenal shirt and trainers. To be fair it was the nineties and all the cool kids were dressing the same.

Then when I got to my teenage years I do not know what I was thinking. Especially in the early part of being a teenager I remember wearing a floral dungarees dress that sounds nice but in pictures it looked anything but. I have no idea where my inspiration to dress came from, I think I just saw what I liked in a shop and went with it. I had no idea how to wear certain clothing items, how to accessories and what suited my body shape. I don't know if it was just me or if most people my age done this but for some reason I was obsessed with wearing denim shorts with a top tucked in. I mean what was I thinking?

Then when I got to eighteen I discovered YouTube and it changed the way I dress and were I shop forever. From their advice and guidance I learnt how to dress for various occasions and events. They inspired me to dress in a sophisticate and appropriate way for age.

YouTube isn't the only thing that has inspired my fashion sense, TV has also contributed to my sense of style and what I wear. One programme in particular has had a huge influence in the clothes I have chosen to wear and that is American, teen drama Gossip Girl. I loved the glamour and sophistication around the New York scene and the way they presented themselves. TV has such a huge influence on what the public are wearing it allows them huge power.

I would love to know what has influenced your fashion sense whenever that's from a TV programme or someone you saw out on the streets.

Job interview tips

Leading on from my previous post entitled "The Next Chapter", I am pleased to announced that I got called back for a second interview. I am so surprised and pleased that I am getting this opportunity to start a career for myself and to be in a place where I can work in a surrounding I am truly passionate about. It just goes to show that if you want something you go and get it. Don't let anyone tell you, you can not do it because if you believe in yourself you can achieve anything you desire to. That is why I have put together a few tips on how to have a successful job interview based on the experiences I had with mine.

1- Dress to impress. I know the way someone looks or how someone dresses shouldn't be taken into account when addressing someone's intellectual qualities but when you go for a job interview the first thing they see before you have even said anything is what your wearing and how you present yourself. Wearing an outfit that looks smart, appropriate but classy and trendy at the same time says that your ready to work as hard as you can and have impeccable taste in clothing.

2-  Be polite and shake hands with the interviewer. This may sound like something quite obvious and simple but doing these small but noticeable gestures can make a really good impression and shows that you have the skills to work with customers and other people you come across in your working days.

3-Make yourself interested in the company you are working for. When the person interviewing you is talking about the company you may be working for it's important that you have an interesting expression on your face. Smile and nod politely because if your sitting there looking bored then they will think you have no interest in the job at all and they need someone who is as passionate about the company than they are.

4-Do your research. When your preparing for your interview it's so important that you research the company and the job your applying for like the back of your hand. Just simple things like what their objective is, when they started and what duties your job role entitles. If your asked a question about them and you stare blankly it doesn't look good.

5- Last but on least be confident. I know it's hard to be nervous but if you can put all that behind and go in there like you know exactly what your doing you will blaze it. And just remember it's not the end of the world if it doesn't go well. There are many more opportunities out there for you to take and grab.

I hope these few tips will helped if you have an interview coming up soon or in the possible future.

A game of pure nerves

There comes a time in all our lives when we get nervous. We get this sick feeling in the pit of our stomach that stays there for a longer duration than we want. Most people get nervous during an important exam that could determine their next life choice and some get nervous before taking the long awaited driving test. I for one get nervous during a football game. And not just any football game but my team Arsenal’s football game. I want them to win so badly that I have felt physically sick. For most people reading this are probably thinking I’m being stupid and to get a grip, but I just cannot help feeling like this every time they step out onto the pitch. Any football fans out there reading this will understand what I’m talking about and feel the same pain I do every match day.

This isn’t something that has just recently started, I’ve been getting nervous since the first game I ever went to at Highbury (Arsenal’s old football ground) at the age of four in 1999, where my dad dressed me in double denim and brown boots. I probably get this frustration from my dad who has been an Arsenal fan and has been watching them for practically his whole life, and seeing him get angry and curse every word under the sun has rubbed off on me and caused me to sit there bite my nails and watch ninety minutes go by in till the referrer blows his final whistle. I’ve gone as far as hide in my room while a game has gone off just because I couldn’t look at the TV in case the team we were playing scored and we would lose. Nowadays I’ve learnt to control my nerves and to tell myself it’s not the end of the world if we lose.

This to me proves that football isn’t just a sport or a game between two teams, but a way of life which we resolve our days around. It brings people together and causes us to encounter all of our emotions in just ninety minutes. When the team you follow win a game such as an important one like The FA cup the feeling is like no other. You could be watching it at home on the TV, in a pub or at the game itself, the atmosphere is an uproar of happiness that can only be described at Christmas and your birthday rolled into one day.

Tough love!

This coming Sunday is the one day of the year where more roses and boxes of chocolate are sold than any other day of the year and men run around like crazy people trying to find the perfect gift for their other half in the hope they get something in return and that their relationship is still in tack after not booking a meal in time and end up with a take away and a rom com starring Jennifer Anniston.

I say this because I am single. So single that I haven't been in a relationship for nearly three years! This may not seem like a very long for some people, but for me it feels like an eternity. I'm not asking to be in a relationship, I'm very happy being with just myself and spending time with my family and friends. There are no arguments, unnecessary drama and you save a lot of money. Don't get me wrong I do get a tiny bit jealous seeing couples looking loved up as they post cute pictures on social media. Isn't that normal though? But on the other hand I can take a wild guess that they are not in cloud nine every waking moment. Behind the scenes there will be a pile of dirty washing on the bedroom floor and the girlfriend (or boyfriend) is having a nag at them.

Relationships are not all negative and full of shouting. Being together with someone you care deeply about brings a feeling of emotion that you don't get with most other relationships. It allows you to be with a partner who you could talk about anything too and share memories that in years to come you'll look back and think what a wonderful time you had.

So if you are like me this valentines day, you're single why not spend the day with the other people in your life who you love very much. People like your parents, grandparents or even a best friend. Valentines doesn't have to be all about a sexual relations partner but with someone or people who love you very much just the same.

The next chaper!

At this current moment we're in the first week of February. January as been and gone so far it seems like a distant memory with the start of a new month upon us. I may be stating the obvious but there is good reason why I'm letting you all know what month it is. The reason for this is because in three months and twelve days time I will have finished university. Three years of pure hard work, laughter and the occasional tears. This got me thinking just how far I've actually come in such a small amount of time. Way back when I was at secondary school I was a shy, quite, insecure girl who didn't think had anything going for herself. Now I'm more confident and ready to show the world what I'm made of.

In my last ever lecture at university my lecturer advised us that it would be a good idea to start applying for jobs or internships as in just a few months time thousands of students all over the country will be competing for the same job us and therefore need to get ahead in the game. So with this in mind I spend nearly all day applying for as many jobs as I could find, some were for a general receptionist and some higher in the career ladder as a PR (public relations). Didn't think I would hear much back when I received an email from a job that I applied for. It was a PR executive job letting me know that my application had been successful and that they wanted to see me for a interview. I was so excited and thrilled as I never thought I would even get a reply back.

When the day of the interview came around I was so nervous I had to try and remember what I was going to say to some of the questions that I may be asked. In the end of was in there for just over an hour and it went really well to what I was expecting. I was confident, dressed smartly and ready for whatever they were going to ask me. I won't hear back to see if I have made it to the next stage in till Tuesday. So I wont get my hopes up expecting them to hand me the job and just take whatever comes with stride and poise.

If you had said to me a year ago that I would be having an interview for a PR job I thought have laughed in your face. So if your feeling about sorry about yourself and keep telling your self that what you want in life to happen simply wont. Then your wrong because if I can get an interview for a job I wish to work in then anyone can.
